    • 1). Pull the dryer out away from the wall so you have room to access the rear panel. Follow the existing power cord up to its entry point in the rear of the dryer. The cord will enter through a cut out hole on one side of the power block's cover panel. Loosen and remove the screws in each corner of the cover panel. Set the panel cover and screws aside. Loosen and remove the cable clamp securing the weight of the cable to the dryer frame.

    • 2). Loosen each of the screws connecting the three wires from the dryer cable to the power block. Pull the wires loose from under the screws, and remove the cable from the dryer and discard the cable.

    • 3). Loosen and remove the two screws (one on the dryer frame and the other on the power block's center screw) used to secure the grounding strap in place, and discard the strap. With the new four-wire plug and its dedicated ground wire, you will not need this grounding strap.

    • 4). Attach the four wires from the new power plug to the power block, by tightening down each screw on the wire. Connect the red and black wires to the two outside screws on the power block, connect the white wire to the center screw, and the green wire to the screw on the dryer frame.

    • 5). Slide the new cable underneath the cable clamp, and tighten the screw down to hold it in place. The cable clamp is used to hold the cable in place as well as take the "strain" off the connection point of the individual wires to the power block.

    • 6). Replace the cover panel and tighten it down with a screw in each corner. Plug the dryer into the existing four-prong outlet. Move the dryer back into its daily operating location and turn it on, to test for power.
