Microsoft sells variations of this basic suite, with additional programs, specifically designed for business, home or student users.

    Microsoft Word

    • Microsoft Word is one of the most-used programs in the MS Office suite. It is a powerful word processor that lets you compose and save documents in the .DOC file extension. Office 2007 users can export their documents in the Adobe .PDF format. Additionally, you are able insert pictures, clip art, headers and footers to meet your publishing needs.

    Microsoft Excel

    • Microsoft Excel is a tool for dealing with financial and numerical data. This program from the MS Office suite allows you to enter data, sort that information in numerous ways and graph charts to analyze that data. It is a versatile data management application that gives you full control of your information the way you want to use it.

    Microsoft PowerPoint

    • Microsoft PowerPoint enables you to create presentations for business and personal use. You can make one or multiple slides with whatever information you need to present. Whether you presenting for a business meeting or a school project, each slide lets you include a heading, body text, bullet points, images and animation. You can even create special effects for transitioning from one slide to the next.

    Microsoft OneNote

    • Microsoft OneNote is a newer addition to the MS Office suite and has been included since the 2003 edition. OneNote is free-form information-gathering and multiuser collaboration tool that gives your note-taking a boost. The program is laid out as an electronic tabbed binder where you can jot down and categorize your information under the available tabs.

    Microsoft Outlook

    • Microsoft Outlook is a stand-alone email client bundled with MS Office. It allows you to compose and read your emails from multiple accounts. No matter where your email accounts are hosted, you can import and view all your emails in a single program. Included with Outlook is a built-in calendar that lets you track your appointments, meetings and other important dates.
