If you cannot provide enough research on your topic to write a full paper, select a different topic before you begin writing to avoid backtracking.

While most research in today's world is internet-based, many teachers still require some non-internet sources. Books give a paper more credibility. Keep in mind that an art object or painting is considered a source.
- 3). Arrange your ideas before writing. It is important to have a clear direction and focus of your paper before starting to write. Although it may seem elementary, the brainstorming "bubble" or flow chart is a good way to lay out ideas.
- 4). Check your formatting requirements. Most teachers provide their students with format expectations. An incorrect format could bump an otherwise good paper down a letter grade simply for disregarding instructions. Be sure your ideas flow smoothly and are correctly organized. Avoid strong opinions, unless your teacher says otherwise. A good essay provides solid facts to support an argument while remaining objective.
- 5). Cite your work. The more citations, the better. Any piece of information that was not known to you before your research needs to be cited. Papers lose their credibility and value without having a proper bibliography.
