How to Make Your Own Stage Curtain Track
- 1). Arrange your stage curtains on a flat surface to replicate their width when closed. Measure the width and add eight inches to your total width. Acquire a wooden dowel rod to accommodate this measurement. Cut the rod down with a saw if you have to purchase it longer than your measurement. Base the diameter of your rod on the size of the curtain rings that you plan to use to hang the curtain.
- 2). Sand the rod down to achieve a smooth finish. Pay close attention to the ends of the rod if you had to cut the rod down to size.
- 3). Screw unfinished wooden ornamental curtain rod ends to both ends of the rod. Choose a shape such as that of a fleur-de-lis or a wooden knob as an ornament.
- 4). Apply primer to the rod and wooden decorative ends. Paint the entire unit based on the colors that you have chosen to theme your production in so that it blends in well.
- 5). Attach a rod bracket to the walls on either end of the stage. Position these brackets two inches from the curtain opening so that the rod will protrude slightly for balance and support.
- 6). Attach curtain rings to your curtain and manipulate your rod through the rings. Position the rod on the brackets. Screw the rod to the brackets if the particular bracket that you're using requires this step.
- 7). Weave long velvet ropes through the last two curtain rings on both sides of the rod so that they can be pulled to open the curtain.
