How to Copy a Flash Video
- 1). Open a Flash video downloading page in your Web browser. Video download sites that can handle Flash video downloads include ClipNabber and KeepVid (see Resources.)
- 2). Enter the URL of the Flash video that you want to download into the provided URL box in the video-downloading system. To obtain the URL, open another tab or browser, go to the Web page that contains the Flash video, right-click into the address bar to highlight the URL and choose "Copy" from the options that come up.
- 3). Click the "Download" or "Nab" button in the downloading system. Your request begins to process and, after a few minutes, two download links appear on the screen in most systems.
- 4). Choose the "FLV" download link to keep the Flash video in Flash video format. When the "Save as" window pops up, choose a folder on your hard drive where you would like to save the file and click the "Save" button.
- 5). Go to the folder where you saved the downloaded FLV file. Check the file extension. Some videos may download with an "htm" extension instead of "flv." According to KeepVid, this file is an FLV and the extension can be changed without needing to convert the file.
- 6). Change the file extension on a Flash video that downloaded with an "htm" extension by right-clicking the file name and selecting "Rename." When the file name highlights, delete the "htm" from the end of the name and type "flv" in its place. Press "Enter" to lock in the change.
- 1). Open the folder on your hard drive where the FLV is located. You can get to the folder by going to "Start" and "Computer" or "My Computer," then clicking on the drive that the folder is located on, such as the "C:" drive.
- 2). Return to the "Start" menu and "Computer" or "My Computer," and navigate to the folder that you would like to copy the Flash video into. Double-click the folder to open it.
- 3). Right-click on the Flash video in the folder it is stored in, with both folders open on your screen. Choose "Copy" from the context menu that appears.
- 4). Right-click into the folder that you want to copy the Flash video into and choose "Paste" from the context menu. A file transfer box appears on the screen and a copy of the Flash video file appears in the new folder.
