Florida Law Enforcement Certification
- The Miami Dade College School of Justice offers degree programs and training toward licensing and certification in police and fire, corrections and private security. The course modules are very broad and prepare students for entrance into the criminal justice field.
- The Valencia Community College Criminal Justice Institute academy prepares students for entry-level positions as deputy sheriffs or police officers and tutors them to sit for the state exam to become accredited in the State of Florida.
The Basic Correctional Officer Academy develops students for trainee jobs as correctional officers and to take the state exam to become certified. - The Broward Community College has six programs that offer a certificate of achievement. Persons wanting to enroll in one of the certificate programs must be funded or employed by a law enforcement or corrections agency.
Students who successfully complete a certificate program are eligible to take the state certification exam to become a certified correctional officer or certified law enforcement officer in Florida. - The Florida Department Law of Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission give this exam. The test can be taken at various locations throughout the state.
The cost to sit the test is $100, you can either apply online or pay by credit or debit card or you can fill out an application form and send in a check or money order.
