How to Repair Porch Decking
- 1). Scrape the damaged areas of the decking boards with a paint scraper to remove any loose paint.
- 2). Brush the damaged area with a wire brush to clean out any loose and rotted pieces of wood.
- 3). Sand the area around the damaged spots on the decking boards with 80-grit sandpaper.
- 4). Brush on a light coat of epoxy primer using a poly brush. Allow the primer to sit for five minutes.
- 5). Fill the damaged areas with wood epoxy filler using the blade of a putty knife. Allow the epoxy to dry overnight.
- 6). Sand the epoxy repairs so the area is flush with the surface of the decking boards using 120-grit sandpaper.
- 7). Prime and paint the repairs with a matching exterior wood finish using a paintbrush. Allow at least four hours between coats.
