How to Run a Pool With a Low Water Level
- 1). Turn off the filter if you haven't already done so. Running the filter without the sufficient amount of water in the pool can cause permanent damage, including burning out the filter motor.
- 2). Examine the water level in the skimmer. If it's at or below the midway point of the skimmer's vertical height, you must water. It's better for the pool not to circulate at all rather than operating equipment with the water level below the bottom of the skimmer.
- 3). Attach a garden hose to a nearby spigot and pull it into the pool. Secure it in place around the pool ladder.
- 4). Turn on the water supply and fill the pool to the midway point of the pool skimmer. Disconnect the garden hose and shut off the water supply. Restart the filter to begin circulating, cleaning and disinfecting the water.
