I came up with these 3 ways to increase click through rates because I find them to be highly effective when used in classified ads.
If they can be effective in classified ads, why not use them in author resource boxes? So I tried them and they have performed exceedingly well.
Here are the 3 ways: 1) Time sensitivity.
- When a reader lands on one of your articles, he is unlikely to chance upon the exact same article again.
In other words, if he doesn't click your links in the author box, you have lost that visitor (perhaps forever).
So it's either you get the click now, or never.
You can always persuade the reader to click by mentioning a time limit.
For instance, if the reader doesn't click and sign up for free today (right now), he may have to pay for it later.
2) Offer something of real value.
- This has worked very well for me.
There are 2 ways you can apply this method.
The first way is to give away something that you have previously sold for free (e.
g.
a guide that you have sold for $47).
The second way is to let the readers know that there is a paid offer on the site, but if he clicks on the links and buy today, he will get an additional bonus that is worth [$Insert dollar value].
3) Focus on 1 strong benefit.
- Author boxes should never be too lengthy.
Try to keep it to less than 100 words.
The reader should be eager to take action after reading the article.
He wants to click on links.
So just offer 1 strong benefit in a single sentence, and then draw attention to the links.
For instance, "Visit now to enjoy a 50% discount.
" - The discount being the benefit.
