    • 1). Open Photoshop Elements 6, click the "File" tab and select "Open." Navigate to the digital picture with the red eye and double-click the file to open it in the Elements workspace.

    • 2). Click the "Window" menu at the top of the screen and click "Layers" to open the "Layers" palette. The palette may already be open and showing on your screen. Notice there is currently just one layer, Background.

    • 3). Click the "Magnifying" tool, which looks like a magnifying glass at the very bottom of the "Tools" palette on the left side of the screen. Zoom in on one of the eyes to fix.

    • 4). Click the "Lasso" tool on the "Tools" palette. Draw an outline around the eye with the red glow. When you see blinking dotted lines, right-click inside the lines and select "Layer via Copy." Nothing changes on the picture, but a new Layer 1 is added to the "Layers" palette.

    • 5). Click the "Image" menu, click "Adjustments" and select "Hue/Saturation." Move the "Hue" slider bar to the left or right to recolor the selected area back to the person's natural brown, blue, green or other color. Jot down the number in the "Hue" box and click the "OK" button.

    • 6). Click back to the Background layer on the "Layers" palette. Repeat the "Lasso" and "Layer via Copy" process on the person's other eye. Instead of using the "Hue" slider bar, type the number you wrote down. This way, you're sure to get the eyes the exact same color. Click "OK" when satisfied.

    • 7). Repeat the process to fix any other peoples' eyes in the photo.

    • 8). Click the mini-lines icon at the top right of the "Layers" palette. Click "Flatten Image." Click the "File" menu and select "Save As." Type a new name for the photo; don't save it on top of the original in case you ever want to access the red-eye version again.
