It was reported earlier this week that players from Manchester United and Manchester City were banned from using social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
Man Utd reportedly took over official control of Ryan Giggs, Darren Flectcher and Wayne Rooneys Twitter accounts and Facebook profiles for Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Ryan Giggs.
The clamp down supposedly came about because the club were worried that players might leak club secrets either deliberately or unintentionally.
However, it has since been announced by both clubs that they do not ban any players from social media sites, they just don't have any players who wish to have one.
Manchester United place an announcement on there official website announcing that no current player from the team maintains a social media profile.
It's hardly surprising thought that some clubs as well as many other organisations and business might be worried about employees owning social media profiles.
There have been a number of headline grabbing stories were people have used their social media outlet to criticise their boss, much to the embarrassment of their employers.
In only the last few weeks Liverpool player Ryan Babel vented his frustration at boss Rafa Benitez for being left out of the squad that faced Stoke in a recent Premiership game.
The rant, which was almost immediately picked up by the world's media, has angered Benitez and could see the player sold during the current transfer window.
Also recently panto star Lewis Bradley received a chorus of boos when he walked on stage in Swansea.
Unfortunately for him these boos were not part of the panto they were due to his recent Facebook updates which slated the city.
Its wasn't long after his ill judge updates on the site that the local media caught on to the story.
Its was with little surprise then when visitors to the panto decided to boo him despite the fact the was playing the prince.
