Using Social Traffic - Is it Worth Your Time at All?

I'm sure by now you've seen the increasing presence of businesses both small and large on social websites from My Space and Twitter to Stumble Upon and YouTube and you're wondering if the social traffic they receive from a presence on these sites is worth the effort involved in setting up and maintaining that presence.
The answer to that question depends largely on you, your business, and your target audience.
Who Is Your Target Audience? Statistically speaking, if your target audience is any age group under 35 then is highly likely that you will receive a substantial increase in web site visits and sales by making use of social traffic.
It may seem like a lot of work to set up a profile, gain friends and stay involved.
That's because it is a lot of work - no one ever said it would be easy.
You do need to remind yourself however, that the work you are putting in is increasing your visibility without decreasing your budget.
In essence there's an argument to be made that any business on the Internet should be making full use of social traffic.
The question of whether or not it is worth it is less about the financial and output and more about how much effort you as a business owner are willing to put forth to ensure the long-term success of your online business.
Financially speaking, social traffic is free.
I don't know too many successful entrepreneurs who would not be willing to spend a few hours a week nurturing their social traffic instead of spending a few thousand dollars having someone else do it for them.
