The 2012 Eisner’s were held at the San Diego Comic-Con International on Friday, July 13th. The comic star studded event is considered by many to be the Oscars of comic book and this night celebrated the best that comics have to offer.

In terms of the overall picture the breakdown is as follows, but one caveat, I’m not taking the personal awards into account for a publishers total tally as many creators work for multiple publishers.

At any rate, Dark Horse had quite a great run of awards outnumbering every publisher for awards not shared. IDW also had a very respectable amount with three individual awards. Archaia’s Tale of Sand is also another winner with some excellent awards attached to the project.

I would say that Marvel had the biggest night overall in winning three individual awards and having some of their creators walk away with some of the top awards as well. The super star though really points to Mark Waid who won Best Writer and whose work on Daredevil won Best Single Issue and Best Continuing Series. The big snub would be in DC's lack of any awards. This seems odd as they have been making some big strides in getting more of the market share that has been dominated by Marvel for so long. I'm not saying that sales equals quality, but they have been making some bold changes that have paid off with fans all over.
