The Xbox 360 red ring of death has become a symbol among Xbox 360 owners.
Unfortunately it hasn't become a "good" symbol, but instead a symbol of grief and annoyance.
This article will show you some easy trouble shooting tips to fix Xbox 360 Red Lights.
Tip #1 The first thing you should do when troubleshooting your Xbox 360 red lights is to find out if the system is doing it all the time or will start flashing the red ring of death after being played for a little while.
What you should do is let your console cool off for about 30 minutes to an hour and then try it.
If it boots up and works for a little while, then there are some other things you can do to help prevent this.
If it will not boot up at all, then there has already been internal damage to some of the hardware components and this will have to be repaired.
Tip #2 If your console will work for a little while before it gets the red ring of death, then it is having trouble overheating.
To fix Xbox 360 red lights in this case, you can help the console by making sure it is properly ventilated.
This is done by placing the Xbox 360 on a flat hard surface (not on carpet) and by making sure there isn't anything (like dust or other electronics) obstructing the vent holes.
Tip #3 If tip 2 didn't help fix Xbox 360 red lights, then one final thing you can do (before having to repair the system) is make sure all the of the hardware is in working condition.
Make sure the power cord and AV cables aren't damaged.
Try a different controller and even try to boot the system without the hard drive.
