How to Build Your Bocce Ball Court
- 1). Clear an area of level ground to accommodate the bocce court. Bocce court dimensions range from 60 to 100 feet long and 10 to 13 feet wide.
- 2). Mark the dimensions of your court with ground paint and flags.
- 3). Cut frame boards to encircle the perimeter of the court. Your perimeter can be as tall and thick as you prefer, as its only purpose is to mark the boundaries.
- 4). Add support to the perimeter by screwing the boards together and supporting them with stakes every 2 or 3 feet.
- 5). Spread 2 to 3 inches of small stone gravel over the entirety of playing area. Level the gravel thoroughly.
- 6). Spread a 1 to 2 inch layer of a crushed stone powder on top of the gravel. Level and compact the powder thoroughly.
- 7). Spread a 1 to 2 inch layer of oyster shell flour on top of the crushed stone powder. Level and compact the flour thoroughly.
- 8). Mark the playing lines of your court. Regardless of how long your court is, two sections should be marked 16 feet from the each end of the court. These will be the inbound areas of play. Beyond each inbound area line an area 8 feet long should be marked by a volo line. The space between the two volo lines can vary between 0 to 12 feet.
