Do you want to know more about low carbs diet rule? Check this article out.
My friend is about to launch her strict and painful diet and also about to grocery shop at the local health food store too, so she really needs to know what to buy for good.
Is tofu alright to eat as well as miso, tempeh, the dried stuff, Ezekiel bread, and other sprouted grains? She has read some authorities that say they are ok, when some say they're not.
No grains of any kind as well as no sprouted ones so one is left with really nothing to eat, especially no protein based products and she doesn't want to feel forced to go back to meat based diet as she has done in part before.
Some interpret "no vinegar" to mean no apple cider vinegar as well, and some say no soy sauce at all while others say tamari from the health food store is ok.
What she asks are: How far could we take the low and no carbs rule? No pasta at all or are certain ones alright? How about corn products like grits, taco shells, corn chips, etc? She hasn't read about any soy products at all, but without a little soy on a vegetarian diet, she thoughts she'll be starving to death.
Answering her questions, I have to say the bad news that soy is absolutely out as a protein source.
A quick look at the 'darker side of soy' will say a lot.
I don't advocate veganism without lots of supplements either.
The good news is that you could practically live on vegetables and whey, and be very healthy by doing it.
Vegetarians can have whey from happy cows that are not exposed to pesticides, herbicides, etc.
, and even the milking apparatus is designed to mimic the feeling of a suckling calf.
I still suggest a few supplements for good.
And I advise you slacking of a bit and using whey and eggs from happy animals.
Eggs that are not fertilized are ok, because it's not taking life.
