Rule By Corporate Leaning Judges A Danger To American Freedom And No More Than Constitutional Heresy
The Citizens United v.
Federal Election CommissionSupreme Court ruling has codified the supremacy of the corporation in our political process.
Republicans attempting to nullify the duly elected legislative branch's effecting of healthcare reform is hypocrisy.
Any judge declaring a law effected as the healthcare reform law was is constitutional heresy.
It is sad that Republicans are happy to vilify a policy in the healthcare reform bill that ensures those capable of paying their own healthcare insurance do not force that cost on to the responsible.
Interesting enough Republican hypocrisy on issues of personal and governmental responsibility has been consistent.
After all, as they claim to want budget deficits reduced, they also want military spending increased, and a preponderance of tax cuts for mostly the wealthy that has been the root cause of our deficits.
As they talk about personal responsibility, they are willing to allow renegades to game the healthcare system that the responsible pays for.
It is for this reason Progressives must see the goal and not the immediate skirmishes.
All know the rules that govern the Senate, a body that requires a 60 vote majority to pass most legislation.
As such Progressives must be adult in negotiating with Republicans and understanding what can be accomplished within those constraints.
Likewise Progressives must motivate, enlarge, and educate a base that that given the country's economic reality should be Progressives.
A Republican takeover of the government will make the continuing corporate takeover of the country complete as the middle class is destroyed.
