G'day everyone Do you find it difficult to write a good article? If you do then I think I may just have the answer you were looking for.
The truth is that to write articles people want to read, is no harder than writing a letter to a relative or a loved one.
Think about that for a second, when we write to people we know we tend to write in a very conversational manner, so do that when you write your articles.
Write them as if you are telling a story to your grandparents or another person you admire and respect, this will not only be interesting, but will also help you keep the cussing and negative language down to an acceptable level.
Good article writing is about creating connections with your readers and making them want to read further.
If something interests you then it is a good bet that it will interest a lot of other people just like you.
However to write articles people want to read you will have to write for the reader not the author, let me explain.
Make your articles relevant and about things that are happening right now, history is a wonderful thing but it is as boring as hell, to read about, great for taking quotes from, to add significance to an article, but boring to read, so do not bore your audience.
Research what it is your audience is having problems with or what it is they wish for and then supply them with the answers to those issues.
This will have people hanging on your every word.
Use a title that will grab a reader's attention, If you are not sure what I mean take a look in your local newspaper or at the online news and take note of the headings they use.
Notice how they all have an emotional angle or play on people's emotions.
Baby Suffers horrific death or horror weekend on road or bankers party while rates rise or passengers in limbo as airline strike bites.
All headings that touch an emotional chord in the readers, a mother, a parent whose child just got their licence, a home owner with a mortgage, someone about to go on holidays.
Write as if you were the reader, to write articles that people will read means to put yourself in the place of the reader.
Do you like long blocks of text, do you like pictures with your articles, do you like to wonder what will happen next as you read, if you said yes than congratulations as most of us are like that, we like our mind to be stimulated not put to sleep.
Focus on your readers interests and what moves your readers emotionally.
Write to engage you reader on both a mental and emotional level.
This will of course depend on what you are writing; for example, a technical manual, will be almost purely mental, where as a sales piece will incorporate both the mental and the emotional.
