How to Repair a Kenmore Vacuum With a Burnt Smell

    • 1). Unplug your Kenmore vacuum and turn it so that the bottom where the spin brush is located is facing up.

    • 2). Remove the four screws holding the plastic cover in place, and put them in a safe spot.

    • 3). Pry the plastic cover free gently.

    • 4). Look for the belt positioned on either or both sides of the spin brush. If you have two belts, you'll want to replace them both at the same time.

    • 5). Remove the screws holding the axle in place and carefully pull the axle loose.

    • 6). Pull the old belt from the axle and loop the new belt or belts into position.

    • 7). Reattach the axle and screw the plastic cover back in place.
