Revamping Kenyan Music Online

The Chapaa remix by some Kenyan musicians is a really special song in my opinion, and it must be analyzed because of one reason: it was released around 2-3 years ago, and it is hitting now.
This is something which I believed could be done in Kenya.
I was a bit clueless as to how well a 'resurrected' track would do in Kenya, and I am quite pleased by the results! This song is definitely one of the hottest around right now! I was informed by Nazizi that the Chapaa remix was recorded a long time ago, and she herself was shocked to hear it be played on the radio of late.
Proof of this lies in the fact that Baby Gangsta is spotted in the video representing for Abbas, yet that chapter died a while back.
The concept of resurrecting a song is simple: You take a song that really didn't get the recognition it deserved strangely so, revamp it a bit, and re-release it to give it another go on the charts.
Apart from Chapaa remix, you could also take the example of Brick and Lace's "Love is Wicked" which was released a loooong time ago with the other songs from the Diwali Riddim (e.
g Galangal by TOK, yeah THAT long ago).
So the Chapaa remix is a medley of Kenyan artists from various genres who come together and oddly enough, manage to make this track work.
The artists who shine through are Nazizi (the change of beat in her verse is just EPIC work by Tshazi), and Wyre, who does his thing with an unusual swag, away from his usual 'shy guy' approach.
The only negative is that Abbas himself is seriously outshone in this track due to a number of factors (verse placed in the middle of the song, very unoriginal rhymes, nothing special).
Otherwise this makes for a sizzling joint, and hopefully this clears a path for more resurrected tracks in Kenya music online the future.
We all have tracks that we liked but for some odd reason, they just didn't succeed in the way we expected.
My preference is 'Chapa Ilale' by Frakaz when it first came out back then, and it has duly been resurrected by DJ Nruff and Lyrical Assassins.
