Help Save the Imperial Eagle
This terrible behaviour is now causing the Imperial Eagle to slide closer to extinction as their nests are destroyed and their eggs sold off to the highest bidder.
They are seen as a show of power and strength across the globe, and are one of the most amazing creatures in the animal kingdom.
Here are some interesting facts about the Imperial Eagle for you to get your beak into! Who Said Romance Was Dead? Itis one of the most romantic animals on the planet, though it has nothing to do with turning up at their nest with a rose between their beak and a box of Milk Tray under their wing! No, but once the Imperial Eagle finds a mate, they remain together and monogamous for the rest of their lives together.
If only humans could do the same eh?! Power From Above An adult imperial eagle is a very powerful, yet graceful, bird of prey.
They are quite stocky in size, with black and-brown feathers with a golden crown on their head.
Very regal, hence the Imperial! They have quite a large head, and their wings are pretty long, allowed for all those majestic swoops.
They are certainly one of the most impressive birds on the planet, full of grace and poise.
Survival of the Fittest The female will lay between 2 to 4 eggs each time they breed, with them hatching between late May to mid June.
Unfortunately the smallest hatchling will either be pecked or starved to death by the other birds.
That's a bit much, talk about sibling rivalry! That puts the squabbling I do with my brothers into perspective, though one did once throw a toy Millennium Falcon at my head in an argument.
Pretty sure I'd rather deal with that Falcon than to being pecked to death by an Eagle though.
You can actually help the Imperial Eagles cause through a few different wildlife charities online.
You can even help to provide the funds to build a protected nest in Bulgaria that is monitored so that no poachers can take advantage of these beautiful creatures.
The Imperial Eagle is one of the true symbols of strength and honour in the animal kingdom, let's help to make it stay that way.
