Homemade Trade Show Booth

    Designing the Space

    • Determine the size of the space you have for the booth. Because you must provide the barriers around the booth to separate your section from the next, select three wardrobe bars with stands. Most of these bars are collapsible so they are easy to move from one location to the next in one piece. Measure the floor space after the bars are set up so you know the size tables you can set up. Consider selecting a long thin table for the front to act as a counter and a couple of larger tables for the back to hold the product and company informational signs.

Select a solid color fabric that matches the colors of your product or company. The material will act as a wall that hangs from the wardrobe bar, so choose enough fabric that it reaches the floor. Consider picking a lightweight textile so it flows nicely. But make sure it is not so lightweight that it allows light to penetrate. You want potential customers to focus on your product.

    Making the Fabric Walls

    • Cut the material to fit the space for the walls and leave a few inches of space at the top so you can add an attachment feature. Snaps are easy to add because they require only hand-stitching. Put one side of the snap at the edge and the other a few inches down. The space between the snaps needs to fit around the bar so the snaps can connect easily. Repeat this step for the top length of the material. If you do not want to add the closure elements yourself, buy ready-made curtains that have a loop along the top.

    Setting up the Tables

    • Set up your tables and stack your product in a location that enables the customer to interact with it. Consider covering the tables with the same cloth as the walls so the booth is uniform. If you put a long table in front, it will act as a counter where you can display and talk about your product as you handle it. This surface also works well for housing company pamphlets. Put large display boards on the back tables to keep the customers' eyes moving throughout the booth.
