- 1). Launch your antivirus application.
- 2). Select "Update" from the main application window.
- 3). Select "Check for Updates/Update Virus Definitions." The application will attempt to download application and virus updates. The "Update" option can typically be found in the menu bar, if not in the main application window. Depending on your specific software, the process may be slightly different.
If you are using an out-dated paid application, there is a chance you will receive an error indicating that your subscription has ended. In such cases, you will be unable to download the updates for free.
