Video: Decorating Color Palette for Brown & Burgundy
Video Transcript
Hi, everyone. I'm interior designer Kathy Hobbs, owner of Kathy Hobbs Design Recipes, an interior design and home staging company based in New York City. Brown and burgundy are two colors that are really warm and rich, but can sometimes look too dark or muddy if not paired with light, bright colors. So what are some colors that you can pair with brown and burgundy? I say, go bold, and use citrus colors, like lemon and lime. Let's see how these warm mustard pillows look on a burgundy sofa. This is a gorgeous shade that's also, of course, a shade of yellow, this mustard. And also pay close attention to the texture that we've added, with this pillow being made out of felt, and all the sculpted pedals that you see on the pillow. How gorgeous does this look against the burgundy? It really brightens up this dark burgundy sofa. You can also use a different shade of yellow, like more of a lemon. Take a look at how these lemon pillow look on the burgundy sofa. Another shade of yellow, pop of color, gorgeous. You can see how you can use a different shade of that citrus yellow. Don't be afraid to use green. I love green. Green adds a real sense of elegance, a beautiful pop of color, I think, to any space. It looks really gorgeous against brown and burgundy. So now we have these lime pillows against the burgundy sofa, and I think we've added just another gorgeous pop of color. Also take a look at how this brown pillow looks against the chair. I hope you've found my decorating tips relating to a color pallet of brown and burgundy to be helpful. I'm interior designer Kathy Hobbs, owner of Kathy Hobbs Design Recipes, based in New York City.
