How to Build Your Own Fence Post Puller
- 1). Pile three or four bricks 8 to 12 inches in front of the fence post.
- 2). Cut a scrap 2-by-4 into two 6-inch boards with a handsaw. Hold the boards together and lower the top board 2 to 3 inches lower than the bottom board. Put a Phillips driver bit into a drill and screw the two boards together.
- 3). Hold the boards against the fence post; face the lower board out. Keep the higher board's bottom edge slightly lower than the brick pile's height. Drive long deck screws through both boards and into the fence post.
- 4). Place a 6-foot 2-by-4 in the gap between the lower board and the fence post. Rest the board's edge against the brick pile. Pull down on the board to lift the post out of the ground. Back out the deck screws and move the homemade fence post puller to another post.
