How To Remove an Accident From a Florida Driving Record
- 1). Request a copy of your driving record from the Florida Bureau of Records. You may request a three-year record and/or a seven-year record. Mail your request and the applicable fee to Bureau of Records, P.O. Box 5775, Tallahassee, FL 23314-5775.
- 2). Review your driving record to confirm a recent violation for being at fault in an accident. An accident that results in a crash or accident will result in four points being assessed on your license.
- 3). Go to the "Basic Driver Improvement Courses" web page for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Scroll through the list of providers available for you to take a basic driver improvement course. Alternatively, you will also find providers in the telephone book under traffic schools or driving instruction.
- 4). Apply or register with an approved provider for a basic driver improvement course. Pay any fees required to attend the course.
- 5). Attend the basic driver improvement course on your scheduled day. Pay attention to any lectures or videos you will be required to watch.
- 6). Take and pass the exam given at the end of the course. Obtain a proof of completion, such as a certificate, to verify you completed the course. Many schools will automatically submit your proof of completion to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
