    • 1). Prepare the area for caulking by removing any loose pieces and clearing away any dust. A long-bristled paint brush can help remove dirt and debris from deep cracks. Clean particularly dirty concrete with warm water and a clean sponge. Allow the area to dry thoroughly.

    • 2). Open the end of the caulk tube by snipping the point off with a pair of scissors. Squeeze the air out of the nose of the tube.

    • 3). Insert the nozzle of the caulk tube as far as possible into the crack. Squeeze caulk from the tube, moving the nozzle from side to side, until it it is completely filled.

    • 4). Wipe away any excess caulk with your finger. Allow the caulk to fully dry and cure for at least 24 hours before treating or painting.
