How to Find Inmate Case ID Numbers in Louisiana
- 1). Call the facility where the prisoner is located if he is serving parish or municipal sentences. Give the inmate's name and date of birth to the officer at the facility and she should be able to give you the prisoner's inmate case ID number.
- 2). Call the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections if the inmate is serving a Louisiana Department of Corrections, or DOC sentence. If you enter the name and date of birth for the inmate, the system will give you the facility where the prisoner is located and a contact phone number. Call the contact phone number for the facility and request the inmate case ID number.
- 3). If you do not know which facility the prisoner is located or are unsure of her full name, you can use an inmate search service. The Louisiana DOC suggest using the Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System, or LAVNS.
- 4). Select "Offenders" from the "Register and Search" section of the LAVNS web page. Enter the inmate's name. If you do not know the full name you can enter a partial first and last name. Enter the inmate's date of birth or age range and start the search. Any offenders matching your selections will be shown, along with their statuses and facilities. Click the offender's name and the Inmate ID Number will be listed. The LAVNS is also available by phone.
