    • 1). Find journals; a range of journals specialize in publishing qualitative research articles. Examples include American Anthropologist, The American Journal of Sociology and Educational Action Research. Shortlist the journals that are most appropriate for your research project. Register on each journal's website and so you can view the full journal articles at your leisure.

    • 2). Read up on qualitative analysis techniques. Use the online search criteria on each journal's website to search for articles on qualitative analysis. Take notes on useful hints and tips for analysis; these will give you an idea about standard practices in the field. Study general research articles to understand how these qualitative analysis techniques have been used in practice to completed research projects. Try and find studies that are similar to yours.

    • 3). Use the keyword search on journal websites to find research studies that are similar to yours. Highlight key theories that you can prove or disprove using your analysis. Using pre-existing theories as a starting point adds weight to your analysis. Check with your professor or supervisor whether you are using reputable journals and authors before including the information in your analysis.

    • 4). Plan how to use these journal ideas, methods and theories during your analysis. Write headings for the different sections of your data analysis and list the information to be included in each section. Remember to reference where the ideas come from to avoid being flagged for plagiarism.
