How to Build a Fire Pit Grill
- 1). Find a suitable spot. Make sure the area is level and not close to trees or other flammable items.
- 2). Find a suitable grill grate. Use the grate from you gas or charcoal grill, or buy a larger one at the hardware store.
- 3). Place the grill grate on the ground. Form a ring of bricks or cinder blocks around the outside of the grate. Place the grate back down on top of the bricks. Make sure it fits over the bricks and is centered properly. Remove the grate.
- 4). Cover the ground inside the brick circle with 1 or 2 inches of gravel. Spread the gravel out evenly with your hands.
- 5). Add another row of bricks on top of the first row. Place one more row of bricks on top of the second row if you desire. Try not go any higher than two or three rows, or the grate and food may be too far way from the flames to cook properly.
- 6). Place charcoal in the bottom of the fire pit on top of the gravel. Light the charcoal and spread the coals out evenly with a fire poker. Place the grill grate back on top of the bricks.
