Register with the Search Engines to be No 1 on Google
Let them know you have arrived on the scene; be bold, be noticed, and be listed.
There are literally millions of new websites and web pages being added to the Internet every day. Google is trying to keep up but the search engines like us to notify them when a major change or a new development has occurred. Launching a site, and expecting to be automatically found by search engines and customers alike, is just not going to work. You need to leave a trail of bread crumbs and better yet, set off an unmistakable fanfare to announce your arrival. You need to manually submit your web address to the major search engines to get the ball rolling.
Be sure to avoid the many hundreds of sites that offer to submit your site to all the major search engines on your behalf as they want money from you for what is a simple exercise. You want to be sure it is done correctly so be sure to do it yourself.
In addition, most of the submission pages ask you to copy the captcha text they provide so that the search engines can determine that you are human and not being submitted by a robot piece of automated software.
Speaking of robots, the search engine bots pay little attention to your meta keywords. However, it is still worth providing the keywords, as every little bit helps and that by identifying keywords, you can plan out the content of your Web pages.
Here is how the robots work. When the Googlebot lands on a page of your site, it wants to index that page and then use the links to find out what happens next. If the meta code of your site has commands like, robots follow, then remove them as it is just slowing down the Googlebot.
If there are certain pages on your site you do not want the Googlebot to visit, consider using noindex or nofollow commands to ensure the Googlebot gets to the money pages quickly and without hindrance.
Be aware that some robots are written to be malicious and clog up your server by demanding too many pages too quickly. This type of denial-of-service attack is an annoyance but do not block access to robots because the benefits of being open and available to all the robots including the Googlebot, far outweighs the annoyance.
Here is a tip for you to do early in your efforts to become an Internet Marketing professional.
To get access to a host of webmaster tools that are worth using, type Add URL into the Google search box and you will be presented the link you need to access the Google webmaster tools. Alternatively you can type google forward slash addurl into the search box and you will be connected to the webmaster site. Also, be sure to register with Yahoo by typing search yahoo dot com forward slash info forward slash submit.
Once you have submitted your site to all the major search engines, put a note in your diary for three months from that date. Unless you are noticing that the search engines are visiting you regularly, you are going to need to remind them to come again and check out what is new. This is not spamming; it is common sense. Keep this up for about a year as by that time you will see that they visit on a regular basis.
