Ports Used by SSL
- Internet Inter-ORB Protocol (IIOP) is used to allow different computer programs which use different programming code to communicate with one another on the Internet. IIOP Name Service operates in Secure Socket Layer and Transport Layer Security(SSL/TLS).
- Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure alternative to HTTP.
It is used for secure sessions, such as banking, credit card transactions or enrolling online when entering sensitive information. - DDM-SSL (ddm-byte) is the port service which works with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, or TCP/IP, the protocol which assures reliable delivery of data. User Datagram Protocol (UDP) protocol exists within TCP/IP and is used when reliable delivery is not necessary.
- SMTPS is a secured version of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), which delivers email across the internet. SMTP will exchange a log-in and a password. However, SMTPS, the secured protocol, will encrypt the message in Secure Socket Layer and Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS).
- Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an open source client-server protocol which communicates with a directory server that manages a directory of users, servers and other objects in an enterprise. LDAP uses a set of rules for encoding directory transmissions.
