Using Flash to animate text is a popular way to liven up a home page or presentation. How you choose to spruce up dull text is up to your own imagination and creativity. However, there are some common and easy methods that can get you started simply using basic controls in the program's properties panel and the motion tween. Combine these elements to create truly dynamic text effects. - Moving text from one side of a screen to another is the most basic type of effect. Simply convert your text to a movie clip and use a motion tween on the frames of your text. Use the ease-in and ease-out controls in the Properties panel to create a bounce effect. Or create a blurred version of your text, save it as a movie clip, and place it on the start of the timeline. This will make your text look like it's moving fast across the screen.
- Convert your text to a movie clip and place two key frames on the timeline at least 10 frames away from each other. Change the alpha level of your text in the first frame to 0 and in the last frame to 100. Insert a motion tween between the two frames. Press return or enter to preview the animation.
- Please note that this should be used sparingly, and really only in the introductory part of your site and not as a persistent element. It's widely considered as annoying.
Convert your text to a movie clip. Insert five keyframes into your timeline, five frames apart or more, depending on how fast you want the text to blink. Use the "Glow" filter on every other frame. Insert the motion tween between each frame. Press enter to preview.
