I have learned a lot in my 50 plus years on this planet.
I've been a failure at many things, business, sports, creative pursuits, and I can go on and on.
But one thing I've been successful at is relationships.

We're probably two of the happiest people on this planet.
But we weren't always.
And the reason is because I wasn't always as smart as I am today.
I almost lost her because of my stupidity.

The first thing you have to understand is that each person, no matter who they are, has needs.
The problem is, we don't take the time to find out what those needs really are.
Oh I know, we think we have all the answers.
Women think all men want is sex, food and a good ball game.
Men think all women want is shallow flattery, trinkets and a shopping spree.
If only it was that easy.
But people are deeper than that.
My wife understands what I really want, and it has nothing to do with those things.
Conversely, I understand what she really wants.
But how? How did this happen? It happened by doing something that few people really know how to do.
It's called communicating.
When was the last time you sat down with your ex, took the person's hands and said, "Please, tell me what you really want, not just from me but from life" and really meant it and really hoped for an answer? You're going to find out one of two things if you do this.
Either you'll find out exactly what the person is looking for, or you'll discover that the person doesn't know himself.
When that revelation comes, the relationship strengthens because you've reached a new level of understanding.
Either you'll understand what YOU need to do to make your partner happy, or you'll partner will realize that the problem lies more within himself.
This then leads to being able to work things out...
together.
If this sounds easy, it is.
But there is more to it than this.

I don't know if it was written by a psychologist or not, but it's dead on the money.

I know how important love is in this world.
