    • 1). Load the photos you would like to use in the collage onto your computer. Either transfer them from a digital source, such as a camera or SD card, or you can simply scan them in. If you do choose to scan them in, use a high-resolution setting in the scanner software (600 dpi or better). Save all the photos to the same folder on your computer.

    • 2). Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "New." In the dialog that pops up, enter the pixel width and height you want for your document, depending on the requirements for your project. Set the resolution to 72 if the image will only be going on the Internet. If it will be printed make the resolution 300. Click "OK."

    • 3). Select either the "Paintbucket" or "Gradient" tool from the toolbar and apply the color or gradient of your choice to the canvas to form a background for the collage.

    • 4). Select file and click "Open." In the dialog that opens, browse to the images you saved for the collage and open one. Click on "Select" in the menu and choose "Select All." Then click on the "Edit" and choose "Copy."

    • 5). Go back to your collage document, select "Edit" and click "Paste." Use the "Move" tool and "Scale" function to place the image where you want it. Then use "Rotate" function to change the angle of the pasted in image (if you wish).

    • 6). Repeat steps 4 to 5 to bring in all of the photos for your collage. When you are done, select "File," then "Save" and save your file as a high-resolution JPEG.
