    • 1). Lay the 4 1/2 foot long wooden boards vertically to each other on the ground with the widest side down, spacing them 6 inches apart. Make sure the edges are even.

    • 2). Pick up the four boards that are 4 feet long and, one by one, place them horizontally across the four parallel boards on the ground. Even up the edges and keep these boards centered on top. For the first board, measure down from the top 6 inches and place the board. Measure down another 6 inches and lay down the second board. Repeat this procedure with the two remaining boards.

    • 3). Arrange all the boards so the edges are even and the lattice trellis resembles a tic-tac-toe board. Use the hammer to nail the roundheads through each intersection of the top boards, so the wooden boards are secured.

    • 4). Pick up the trellis and carefully flip it over to the other side and lay it on the ground. Use the hammer to pound down the sharp nail points that emerged through the other side. If necessary, secure nails through the intersections on this side as well .

    • 5). Choose a stable place for a lattice rose trellis to be anchored on your landscape. Keep in mind sun requirements and drainage for your rose bushes. The area needs to have enough space for the entire trellis to lay flat and sturdy so it is at least six inches off the ground.

    • 6). Measure on the wall or other surface where each corner of your rose trellis will be, using the level to ensure it is even. Mark the corners where the hooks will be installed.

    • 7). Install the three hooks into the wall or fence with the electric screwdriver, one on each side of the trellis, and the last one in the center of the trellis. Hang the rose bush trellis on the hooks and make sure it is sturdy.
