How to Transplant a Venus Fly Trap Plant
- 1). Place a mixture of 70 percent peat moss and 30 percent coarse pumice in a small planter that is large enough to house the roots of your Venus fly trap with some room for growth.
- 2). Press a small hole into the soil with your finger and place the roots of the Venus fly trap inside so the roots are covered. Fill the hole in with excess soil until the roots are completely covered.
- 3). Water the Venus flytrap with distilled water only, recommends The Garden Helper in the article "Venus Fly Traps." Venus fly traps are sensitive to chemicals, so using fertilizer or tap water may damage the plant.
- 4). Cut the bottom off of a clean, 2-liter soda bottle and place it over the potted plant to create a terrarium. Making a terrarium will ensure that your Venus fly trap has adequate moisture.
- 5). Replace the soil in the pot every few years to keep the Venus fly trap healthy, recommends the Botanical Society of America.
