    • 1). Insert the Ubuntu live CD into your computer and reboot. Wait for the menu to load.

    • 2). Press "Enter" when the menu appears. This will load the option "Try Ubuntu without installing it." Wait for Ubuntu to load.

    • 3). Open Firefox by clicking its icon on the upper task bar.

    • 4). Download your preferred anti-spyware program to your Downloads folder.

    • 5). Open a Terminal window and type in the following commands:

      cd Downloads

      sudo dpkg --i Name

      "Name" refers to the name of the downloaded file. For example, if you downloaded avast! Antivirus, you would type:

      sudo dkpg --i avast*

    • 6). Click "Places" on the upper task bar and click your Windows drive.

    • 7). Open your installed anti-spyware software in the "Accessories" category in the "Application" menu in your upper task bar.

    • 8). Click the folders you wish to scan and click "Scan."
