Concrete Surface Preparation for Sealers
- 1). Sweep the surface of the concrete thoroughly to remove loose dirt and dust.
- 2). Wet the concrete surface with a garden hose.
- 3). Fill a bucket with water and add one-half cup of liquid dish soap. Dip the head of a push broom into the soapy water and begin scrubbing the concrete surface. Start at the top of the slab and work downward, if it is on an angle. You can also use a stiff-bristled nylon brush.
- 4). Rinse the concrete with the garden hose, starting at the top of the slab.
- 5). Let the concrete air dry for 48 hours before applying the concrete sealer.
