Hook Up Your DVD Player, DVD Recorder and TV

    • 1). Use one set of audio/visual (A/V) cables to connect the A/V output jacks on the back of your DVD player to the A/V input jacks on the back of your DVD recorder. Be sure when you're plugging in your A/V cables that you insert each individual A/V plug into the A/V jack that corresponds to its color.

    • 2). Connect the signal output from your DVD recorder to the corresponding input on your TV set using a set of A/V cables. Alternatively, this connection can also be made by using just your red and white audio cables (from your set of A/V cables) along with an S-video cable or coaxial cable.

    • 3). Screw the coaxial cable carrying your TV signal into the RF In port on the back of your DVD recorder. This may be the coaxial cable connected to your TV antenna, or the coaxial cable coming from the RF output port on the back of your satellite, cable or digital converter box. (Note: This is the connection needed to also record programs airing on TV to your DVD recorder.)

    • 4). Turn on your TV, DVD recorder and DVD player.

    • 5). Press the "Input" button on your TV remote control to set its video input channel to the channel assigned to the input port used to connect your DVD recorder to your TV. Press the "Input" button on your DVD recorder remote control to set its video input channel to the channel assigned to the input port used to connect your DVD player to your DVD recorder.

    • 3). Press "Record" on your DVD recorder and press "Play" on your DVD player to beginning copying your video.

    • 4). Push "Stop" on your DVD recorder when you're done recording.

    • 5). Finalize your DVD-r disc. Press "Menu" on your DVD recorder's remote control. Locate and select the option to "Finalize" your disc. This "finishes" your recording so that you can watch it later in any DVD player.
