How To Interview An Expert
Always remember that interviews can be one of your quickest and easiest tools to increase your online business. You can use the audio or transcribe it into an e-book or report.
There are many places to find interesting people in your industry to interview if you don't know any personally. To find experts in your field of interest, you only have to look as far as the web. You can find them in forums and on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
Follow these tips for having a great interview:
Know your expert. If they've written a book, read it. Do they write a blog? Read it. Doing your research is absolutely critical to having an awesome interview!
When you approach your expert, be sure there is a benefit to them. Let them know you will be promoting them and how you plan to market the interview. Have your plan of action ready and ask them with enthusiasm!
Be prepared. Have your questions ready. It's not necessary to follow the script word-for-word but prepared questions will make your interview be seamless.
Use open-ended questions that will promote conversation and will take some thinking on the part of the person you are interviewing. Quick yes and no answers do not work!
Be a good listener. The interview is for people to hear the knowledge of the expert. Learn to give them time to speak and don't interrupt. Ask the questions and let the interview shine the spotlight on the expert.
Relax! You are interested in the subject matter. Let your questions flow from your genuine interest.
Interviewing experts is a fun way for you to get the chance to ask questions that you want the answers to. How wonderful is that?
