How to Remove a KIA Stereo
- 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable (or grounding cable) from the Kia's battery. The grounding cable is the black cable that connects the vehicle's battery to the chassis or frame of the Kia. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the bolt holding the clamp around the negative battery lead. Remove the clamp from the lead.
- 2). Remove the trim panel surrounding the stereo. Use a trim panel tool to pry the paneling from the dash. Start on one side and pry the panel free before working around the perimeter of the panel until the entire piece is removed.
- 3). Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the stereo in its dock. There are two screws on either side of the stereo.
- 4). Pull the stereo deck from the stereo dock.
- 5). Disconnect the wiring groups at the rear of the stereo. There are four groups connected to the stereo: the antenna, the amplifier, the speakers and the power supply. Once all of the wiring has been disconnected, the stereo will be completely free from the Kia.
