How to Install a Car Stereo in a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
- 1). Pull out the ashtray. Remove the two screws behind the ashtray using the Phillips screwdriver. Pull out the climate control cluster from the dashboard using both hands, then unplug the wiring on the backside.
- 2). Unscrew the two screws underneath the radio using the Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bezel around the radio off of the dashboard using both hands. Remove the stereo from the dash using the Phillips screwdriver, then pull it out and unplug the wiring on the backside.
- 3). Install the cage included with the aftermarket stereo into the vehicle-specific dash kit using the flathead screwdriver. Install the dash kit into the dashboard using the Phillips screwdriver. Lay out the vehicle-specific wiring harness on a table next to the wiring harness from the aftermarket radio. Remove 1/4-inch of shielding off the end of each wire on both harnesses using the wire strippers, then crimp the matching colors on the two harnesses using the blue butt connectors and the wire crimpers.
- 4). Plug one end of the new wiring harness into the wiring harness from the dashboard. Plug the other end into the aftermarket stereo. Plug the antenna lead from the dashboard into the rear of the aftermarket stereo. Slide the stereo into the dash kit.
- 5). Install the bezel around the dashboard by pushing it onto the dash, then screwing in the two Phillips-head screws at the base. Plug the climate control harnesses into the rear of the climate controls, then screw them into the dash using the Phillips screwdriver.
