    • 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery of the 280ZX using a crescent wrench.

    • 2). Locate and remove the screws that secure the bezel surrounding the factory stereo. The screws are located in the storage area, in front of the shifter, on each side at the bottom and on each side by the dash. Pull the bezel away from the factory stereo to expose the stereo's wiring.

    • 3). Unplug the factory stereo wiring harness from the vehicle's electrical harness by pulling them apart. Cut the wires going to the vehicle's electrical harness leaving enough wire attached to the harness should you choose to hook up the factory stereo again. Reroute the wires to the location where the Dual stereo will be mounted. Remove ¼ inch of the plastic protective coating on the end of each wire using a Klein tool.

    • 4). Drill the holes for the under-the-dash mounting bracket using the bracket as a template. Secure the mounting bracket in place using the provided screws and a screwdriver.

    • 5). Use a wiring diagram to identify which wires need to be connected together from the Dual stereo to the vehicle's stereo wires that were cut in Step 3. Connect the wires together by twisting the bare ends together and wrapping in electrical tape.

    • 6). Slide the Dual stereo into the mounting bracket and secure in place using the accompanying screws and a screwdriver. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
