Video Transcript
This is Nicholas Staddon from Monrovia Nursery talking about how to harvest clematis. There's a great trend going on in Europe right now. Normally when we have our cutting garden, we harvest roses, perennials, daffodils, whatever it might be. But in Europe and this is going to happen in the United States, we are going to start using clematis as cut flowers and it's really very, very easy. The variety that I'm here with today is called Etoile Violette. She is a fabulous variety. Look how many buds and blooms she has in her. The great thing about Etolie Violette is that you really don't have to shade her root. She'll do in a high heat spot. So, get your pruners. Make sure they are nice and sharp. And what you're looking for are the long tendrils of vines. Just like this plant. Harvest them. So we have this great spray of flowers. What we're doing in our cut flowering arrangements is, we got our plants which is standing erect. These plants, we're putting down in to the water. Okay? This is in the water. Then the clematis cascade down on the outside of the vase. They're going to look absolutely fantastic. This is a great way to put new flower arranging in front of your family and your friends. You can really have fun with that. So you never thought you could do it. You can get these beautiful flowers indoors with you. This is Nicholas Staddon from Monrovia Nursery on how to harvest clematis.
