How Cloud Printing Work

Cloud printing service also called pull printing is an emerging technology that facilitates remote printing from Smartphone and computers to printers through cloud computing. This eliminates the need to have your device physically connected to your printer in order to print. This means you can command your home printer to print your documents while you are thousands of miles away.

Advantages of Cloud Printing Service

1. Print from anywhere in the world

2. Share your printer with friends and family

3. Print from various different devices

A Game Changer

Print directly from your phone or tablet -Phones and tablets are rapidly becoming more convenient than computers. However, they still lack and barely support conventional printing. Now, cloud printing allows you to print your photos or documents directly from your Smartphone.

Multi-platform and cross device printing - Cloud printing will work with any device regardless of the make or OS of the device, such as iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows, Mac, you name it. All you need is a good internet connection and Java support.

Remote backup - cloud printing makes it possible to €carry' your home printer wherever you go. Instead of printing your pictures and documents and physically carrying them with you on holiday or tour, you can €print and mail' your documents and photos to your home desk. You don't have to worry about your documents in case your device is lost or damaged.

How it works

Step 1: You need a cloud printing service provider. There are several companies offering this for free or a small fee.

Step 2: You will also need an application, program or webpage that supports the cloud feature.

Step 3: Compatible devices. You need a cloud ready printer connected to a computer through a computer or an access point, and lastly a device that can process or handle documents.

Step 4: Once you have the physical infrastructure in place, choose the document you would like to print and:

1. Press Ctrl+P and chose your cloud ready printer in case you are using a computer.

2. Log into your cloud printing service provider and choose the document from the website.

When using a web application or page to print your document, the request will go through to the service provider's server and be routed to your printer. Remember that your printer must be associated with your account. You can have as many printers associated with your account as you like. You can connect both your home and office computers with your account.

Check List

Assuming you have a cloud-ready computer, you will need it to be configured correctly and have an active internet connection. Secondly, just like any other computer, your printer should have both paper and ink for your job to be printed regardless of the distance you are from the printer.

Although we are in a digital age, we highly rely on physical documents. This means that we can't do away with printers. Not just yet.
