If You Were The Devil, How Would A Sunday Law Help Your Cause?
Among the different views that I heard on this teaching, two stands out for me.
They are as follows: The papacy wants to use the Sunday law to regain primacy in religious matters.
The churches will use a national Sunday law to effectively supplant the seventh-day Sabbath.
These two propositions are not very difficult for me to agree with since we have on record the utterances of religious leaders from both the evangelical and Catholic denominations expressing their displeasure about "Sunday desecration".
Among the many in the clergy who are agitating for Sunday sacredness they are those who are taking it a step further by calling on the secular authorities to enact some form of Sunday legislation in their respective countries! Historically, it has always been the ambition of the papacy to not only regain primacy in religious matters but to assume divine authority! You may recall the infamous statement, "We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty", issued by Pope Leo XIII in his encyclical letter of June 20, 1894.
You may also be familiar with this statement: "Sunday is our mark of authority...
the Church is above the Bible...
" The Catholic Record, London, Ontario, September 1, 1923.
It is quite easy the see the implications of these remarks on future developments in favor of a worldwide Sunday decree.
The big question for me, however, concerning this Sunday law agenda as an end-time issue is how will Satan benefit from all of this? Whenever we are analyzing Bible prophecy to make logical deductions, we need to put our minds in detective mode.
Like a detective, we need to think like the greatest criminal mastermind of all time in our attempt to find the solution to the 'crime' we are investigating.
If the national Sunday law is supposed to be such an evil thing that will endanger the lives of those who comply with it, it must be the work of the Devil to ensure its implementation.
Isn't that so? If I were the Devil I would not support anything religious if it's not to the furthering of my ambition to be worshipped as a god.
The point I am trying to make is, a national Sunday law will serve no strategic objective if it's not for the purpose of rendering homage to Satan.
If the Sunday law will be nothing more than a piece of legislation in favor of the first day of the week, how would that be to the advancement of Satan's agenda? Today, many Christians are keeping Sunday without a law; they don't need a national Sunday law to make them attend church on a Sunday morning.
If that's the case, what difference would a national Sunday law make? It would be fallacious to argue that their soul's salvation will be endangered by such a decree if it's just a matter of legally preferring a day of worship in their favor.
As we contemplate what is likely to be the strategy of the enemy in the last days, let us bear one thing in mind: IT HAS NEVER BEEN, AND WILL NEVER BE, THE DEVIL'S INTENTION TO MAKE US WORSHIPPERS OF GOD under any circumstance! When we see the Sunday decree in light of what Satan's evil intention has always been throughout the ages then are we beginning to think like this great criminal mastermind.
