How to Perform the Zikr Prayer
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Wash your feet and hands as part of the purification of yourself before you begin your prayer. Pray on your prayer mat with bare feet if it is safe or possible to do so.
2
State your Niyaat or intention. Say which of the prayers you are praying.
3
Follow the prescribed order of that prayer and the correct number of Rak'ats (cycles of prayer).
4
Recite a Zikr following Ruku' (bowing) and Sajdah (two humbled prostrations). This can be "Subhana Rabbiyal 'Azimi wa bihamdih" once ("Glory be to my Great Sustainer, Most High, and I praise Him") or "Subhanalla" three times (Glory to Allah).
5
Say another Zikr following each daily prayer (the Fajr, or dawn prayers; the Zurh and 'Asr, or midday and afternoon prayers respectively; the Maghrib or dusk prayers and the 'Isha or night prayers). Follow your Imam's recommendations for the appropriate Zikr for each time.
6
Take the time to begin and end each day with a Zikr to keep your mind and heart on Allah.
