    • 1). See if the "ink out" light on the bottom right of the printer lights up. There is a light for the black cartridge and for the color cartridge. Once it is continuously lit, that means your cartridge is empty. If your cartridge is not empty, but you take it out to check, you cannot use the cartridge again.

    • 2). Open the cover of the Epson 880.

    • 3). Press and hold the cleaning button for three seconds. The cleaning button is the first button on the bottom right of the printer. The ink cartridges move to the left side of the printer and the power light blinks.

    • 4). Lift the ink cartridge clamp that holds the cartridge. The black ink cartridge is on the left and the color ink cartridge is on the right.

    • 5). Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and throw it away.

    • 6). Get your new ink cartridge and remove the yellow part of the tape seal from the top of the ink cartridge.

    • 7). Tilt the new cartridge forward and place it in the cartridge holder of the Epson 880. The label should face up and toward the back of the printer.

    • 8). Press the ink cartridge clamp down once the cartridge is in place. You should hear a click once it is locked in place.

    • 9). Press the cleaning button on the bottom right of the printer. The cartridges will move back to the right side of the printer, and the Epson 880 starts charging the ink system.

Shut the printer cover. The printer stops making noise and the power light stops blinking once the charging process is finished. It can take up to three minutes. Do not turn the printer off during this time.
