- The Plextor PX-712SA was sold with an accompanying CD containing a variety of software programs. Ahead Nero, InCD, Nero BackITUp, Pinnacle Studio, Power DVD and PlexTools Professional were all included with this drive, to provide users a variety of tools to meet all their writing and rewriting needs.

Complete backups, incremental backups, differential backups and storage updates are all supported by this software. Individual files and entire hard drive sections can be backed up and saved onto CDs or DVDs.
Pinnacle Studio 9 SE enables the user to produce professional quality videos on their own PCs.
PlexTools Professional allows the user to control drive functions, identification, CD information, digital audio extraction, CD copying and other operations via an easy-to-use interface. - The Plextor PX-712SA is white with black trimming and a black tray.
- The PX-712SA drive has the ability to recognize almost all reading and writing formats, except for DVD-RAM.
